A crackpot's decalogue
1. A crackpot is someone with a mind of his own. 2. There is no reason to believe what you cannot check by yourself. 3. Raw data are weird. Raw data are your friend. 4. People rarely reproduce what they do not like. 5. The key to fabulous accuracy is fabulous parameter-adjusting. 6. A bigot is a bigot, even if he calls himself Bayesian. 7. Independent verification may be a myth. Openness to public scrutiny is not. 8. There is safety in numbers, but the eagle flies alone. 9. You do not need to be a hen to tell that an egg is rotten. 10. Check if you're right. Sit tight. 11. (bonus) The mainstream is wrong only when it matters.
