A crackpot's decalogue

1.  There is no reason to believe what you cannot check by yourself.
2.  A crackpot is someone with a mind of his own.
3.  Raw data are weird. Raw data are your friend.
4.  People rarely reproduce what they do not like.
5.  The key to fabulous accuracy is fabulous parameter-adjusting.
6.  Independent verification may be a myth. Openness to public scrutiny is not.
7.  A model should be tested, not obeyed.
8.  There is safety in numbers, but the eagle flies alone.
9.  You do not need to be a tailor to see that the emperor has no clothes.
10. Measure right. Sit tight.
